Feed Troughs

Based outside Nenagh in County Tipperary, Spillane Pre-Cast Concrete Ltd was established in 1981 by John Spillane. Having worked previously as a building contractor with his father, John saw an opportunity to move into the manufacturing of window sills, kerbs and paving slabs for the construction sector.

Barry Spillane, a brother of John, joined the company in 1989 after he finished school. Throughout the nineties and into the new century, the Company provided a range of moulded products for the construction sector. In 2008, however, the Global Economic Recession hit Ireland with a vengeance and overnight, Spillane Pre-cast Concrete ltd lost much of it’s business.

The decision was made very quickly to reduce the company’s traditional reliance on the construction sector. This then led directly to its diversification into the production of drinking troughs and other products for the agricultural sector. This decision ultimately kept the company afloat during a period of significant economic turbulence.

Spillane Pre-Cast Concrete weathered this storm and, ever since, has remained very heavily focused on servicing the needs of customers in both the agricultural and construction sectors. Today, the company employs 15 people and continues to grow.
